Carol Ferris, known throughout the galaxy as Star Sapphire, waited impatiently, hidden in an asteroid field while watching the secret space station of K'orum Vagh.
She was waiting on the imminent arrival of a stellar freighter carrying a huge amount of Kunsithium crystals. Some time ago, she had discovered how to refine these crystals to function as an amplifier for her powers. From them, she could even generate an entire replicated army at her command... and thus regain control of Maltus. Carol longed to be the queen of the Zamarons again. She craved power over all things!
The freighter finally arrived, and Carol immediately launched into the attack. However, to her great surprise, the ship was under the protection of two Green Lanterns! Star Sapphire fought fiercely, but the combined power of Hal Jordan and Jessica Cruz was ultimately too much for her. That she was defeated by her former lover made it all the more humiliating.
Star Sapphire did not give up easily and the Green Lanterns had to subdue her by using a clamp created by the combined might of their rings. Even restrained, her fury was such that Jessica suggested "Couldn't we calm her in some way?"
Hal understood the glow of desire in his companion's eyes. Focusing his will, he modified the shape of the clamp separating Carol's legs and shifted her wrists between her knees...
